IKO Kitesurfing Instructor Course UK
The Instructor Course is where your knowledge, riding experience and communication skills come together. Over five focused days, you will learn how to plan and deliver safe, progressive kitesurfing lessons—and demonstrate that ability while working with real students.
Who it is for
Ready to take charge of a lesson.
This course is for candidates ready to move from assisting lessons to taking responsibility for structured teaching — planning a session, running it safely and answering for the outcome.
You will be expected to think like an instructor from day one: reading conditions, managing equipment and people, and making calm decisions when a session needs to change.

Entry requirements
Before you book.
- Minimum age: 18
- IKO Advanced rider level, or the current required equivalent
- Successful completion of the Assistant live course
- Completion of the required online learning
- Valid First Aid and CPR qualification where required by current IKO standards
- Any other current IKO prerequisites — always checked before booking

Five-day journey
Day by day.
Certification is awarded only after meeting all applicable IKO requirements. Timings flex with wind, tide and student availability.
Communication, lesson structure and leadership
Briefings, pacing, positioning and taking responsibility for a group on a busy beach.
Teaching real students
Your first full lessons with genuine beginners, observed and debriefed line by line.
Practical development, rescue scenarios and feedback
Self rescue, body dragging, board recovery and incident management under pressure.
Final teaching, examination and assessment
Deliver a complete lesson and complete the knowledge and practical assessment.
