Experience the glide with Zenith Kiting’s 3 hour 1 to 1 kitesurfing hydrofoil clinic based in Clacton-on-sea Essex. This course will teach you all the fundamentals for you to achieve your first rides on the foil. The days of waiting on the beach for stronger wind is over!

Hydrofoiling – the benefits

Hydrofoiling in kitesurfing has been about for a while however its only become popular within recent years along with  other similar watersports such as surfing, windsurfing and paddle boarding. Due to the minimal amount of drag created by the foil and mast it means that the board simply doesn’t require much energy to move which equally means considerably less wind required.

Ride ‘n’ Glide!

Your very own hydrofoiling coach Matty Hurrell will guide you through all the steps whilst using the most modern safest equipment including the famous Slingshot Hover Glide hydrofoil combined with the Slingshot Alien Air board. We also have the school flight mast set-up which is a combination of various mast heights to achieve fast and safe progression.

We’ve trialed and tested our teaching methodlogy to achieve best results with the ultimate end goal to make a newly born hydrofoil rider totally independent and enjoying ride ‘n’ glide!

Lesson steps

  • Spot assessment for hydrofoiling, terminology, hydrofoil set-up and trim
  • Carrying the hydrofoil whilst entering and exiting the water
  • Body drag out and come back to shore
  • Put board on feet, steady pull and taxi stage
  • First foil rides, prolonged rides both directions
  • Touch and go using the 24″ mast
  • Controlled stop, basic turns, s-turns
  • Dolphin pumping
  • Toe-side riding
  • Jibe

Once you’re ready to go solo and begin your first prolonged glides your hydrofoiling coach will make sure you are well supervised with the use of our Zenith Kiting Zapcat (a catamaran inflatable powerboat).

  • What is the duration of the lesson?

    1:1 tuition – 3 hours

  • When do lessons take place?

    We are available 7 days a week. Certain course’s run on particular days. Have a look at our timetable or simply contact us with your preferred date.

  • What happens if the weather’s inappropriate?

    If we cannot start or continue the lesson don’t worry. We will re-schedule for another time.

  • How many people on the lesson?

    Maximum number of students with 1 instructor is just 2 for ultimate progression!

  • What do I need to bring?

    We supply you with all the latest kit. Make sure to wear suitable clothing for the weather on the day. Bring a towel, swim wear, sun glasses, sun cream, food and water. If you have your own wetsuit bring it along.

Intro, Day 1 - Week 1

I was recommended to reach out to Matty from Zenith Kiting to get started with an intro to Kite Surfing. From the outset, I received a prompt reply and managed to get booked in for the same day. The lesson plan started off with hands on instruction to all the kit and covered all the questions I had without having to ask. Throughout the session, the content was aimed at exactly the right tempo for my learning style and feel that I got the maximum training value out of our time together.
