Kitesurfing Cabarete, Dominican Republic
Famous for its consistent thermal winds, clean warm caribbean waters and the punchiest rum Cabarete is for sure a place which should be on every kiters list!
Matty from the team spent a week at IKO school Kite Club during July. Kite Club is the most established school in Cabarete and owned by renowned IKO guru Jon Dodds. The purpose of the trip was actually some training but Matty was able to find plenty of time to explore the riding conditions.
Kite Club is just round the corner from the main bay of Cabarete and is situated within kite beach which offers a much better place to ride. Kite beach is wrapped with an outstanding reef with a tidy break making wave riding a perfect choice. Within the bay theres flatter water providing fantastic conditions for freestyle. The locals are by far the best riders we’ve ever seen, these guys are simply just nailing every trick in the book.
Night life and food
Theres so many options! From local dishes to French and Indonesian cuisines the choices will for sure fuel your body with the right stuff for endless kiting all day long. Check out Kite Club Cafe which is situated within Kite Club, food is simply incredible and reasonably priced. Chill between sessions with a tea, coffee, fruit juice or a refreshing beer!
Night life is more situated with the centre of Cabarete. Everything is easily accessible via a moto taxi costing just a couple of dollars. Most of the bars and clubs are situated near or on the beach bringing an incredible vibe reminding you constantly that you’re living it up!
